Why I like acriliguache
Have you ever tried to mix paint? Maybe you've used watercolors, which have lovely levels of translucency. Or maybe you've tried acrylics, which are bright and dry fast. What if you could have a paint that takes the best parts of both?
Enter acriliguache. The name sounds a bit strange, but it's really just a mix of two kinds of paint: acrylic and gouache.
Gouache is an elegant, opaque medium, similar to watercolor but with a distinct, matte finish. Unlike watercolor, it isn't transparent; instead, it offers a beautiful, chalky appearance. However, its delicate nature means a new layer of paint can easily reactivate and disturb the one beneath it, making a clean application difficult.
Acrylic paint, on the other hand, dries fast and is permanent. Once it's dry, you can't re-wet it. It's great for layering because you don't have to worry about the colors blending when you don't want them to.
The Best of Both Worlds
Acriliguache combines these two ideas. It has the matte, non-shiny finish of gouache, but it's also permanent like acrylic. It dries quickly, so you don't have to wait around between painting different areas.
The big benefit is how it handles layering. You can paint a bold yellow, wait a few minutes, and then paint a deep blue right on top. The yellow will stay exactly where you put it. This makes acriliguache perfect for creating crisp, clean lines and shapes.
The colors themselves are another huge benefit. They are exceptionally bright and vibrant. Because of the paint's flat, matte finish, the colors have a way of truly popping off the surface, giving your work a clean, modern feel. You can use it on a variety of surfaces, too, from paper and canvas to wood and fabric.
Acriliguache is a versatile and useful paint. It's great for artists who want to work quickly, love strong colors, and need a paint that stays put. If you've ever been frustrated by traditional paints, giving acriliguache a try might be the solution you’re looking for.
