Although often seen and thought of as a sunset painting this was actually inpsired one early morning as I watched the sunrise through the trees over the ocean. My goal in this painting was to try to get away from too much detail and instead focus on trying to capture the experience of witnessing the sun on the horizon in Hawaii. I focused on the glow of the sun, its effects on the sky, and the perfect silhouette the landscape creates.
